How Digital Campus Desk collects, uses and protects information. Written in plain language.
Digital Campus Desk ("DCD", "we", "us") provides the DCD mobile app and this website (dcdapp.co.in). The app offers digital textbooks and classroom tools such as homework, attendance, marksheets, notices, time table and fees records for students, parents, teachers, schools and tuition classes in India. You can reach us at info@dcdapp.co.in.
Under Indian law a person under 18 is a child. DCD is designed so that a child's information is added either by a parent or guardian, or by the school or tuition class the child attends, and a parent or guardian can see their own child's information. We ask for a parent or guardian's consent before a child's account is used, and we do not knowingly collect a child's information without it. If you believe a child's information was added without consent, write to us and we will remove it.
We do not track or monitor children's behaviour for marketing, we do not build advertising profiles, and we do not show targeted advertising to children.
| Information | Why we need it |
|---|---|
| Name, role (parent, teacher, administrator) and the email address or mobile number used to sign in | To create your account and keep it secure |
| Student details: name, standard or class, batch, and the link between a student and a parent | So teachers and parents see the right child's information |
| Classroom records entered by teachers: attendance, marks, homework, notices, remarks, time table | To provide the classroom features |
| Fees records entered by teachers: fee amount set for a student, and payments noted (date, amount, mode such as cash or UPI) | So teachers and parents can see who has paid and what is due. DCD records this information; it does not collect your fee payments |
| Learning use inside the app, such as the chapters you open and your language choice | To show your progress and remember your settings |
| Trial and subscription status | To give you access for the period you are entitled to |
| Basic technical information such as the app version and error logs from our service providers | To keep the app working and secure |
The app does not use your location, camera, microphone, photos or contacts. It does not use advertising IDs or advertising networks. When you tap a line in a textbook to hear it, the sound is produced on your phone.
We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.
The school or tuition class that adds students decides what to enter and is responsible for having the parents' permission to do so.
We use trusted providers to run DCD. They process information only to provide their service to us.
Some providers keep data on servers outside India. We choose providers that apply recognised security standards.
We keep your information while your account is active. When an account or an institution is closed, or when you ask us to delete information, we delete or anonymise it within a reasonable time, except where the law requires us to keep certain records, such as billing records.
Information is sent over encrypted connections and stored with access rules that limit each user to their own records. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep your sign-in details private and tell us at once if you think your account was misused.
This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies, and it does not use analytics or social-media tracking tools. Our fonts are served from our own website, not from a third party. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, may keep ordinary technical logs, such as IP address and pages requested, to keep the website secure and working. If we add any cookies or analytics tool in future, we will ask for your consent where needed and update this policy first.
You may ask us to show you the information we hold, correct it, delete it, or withdraw consent. For a child's information, the parent or guardian makes these requests. To delete information, see Delete my data. For anything else, write to info@dcdapp.co.in and we will reply within a reasonable time. If you are not satisfied with our reply you may approach the Data Protection Board of India under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, once it is in operation.
For any concern about your information, write to our grievance contact at info@dcdapp.co.in with the subject "Privacy".
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top and tell app users within the app or by email.
